A recognition of judgment is one of the so-called contentious judgments that a court may issue if the defendant expressly acknowledges the claim or is not sufficiently procedurally active and does not respond in time to a qualified summons. The court will then issue a recognition of judgment if the defendant fails to respond to the claim within the prescribed period (at least 30 days).
